Closeboard Fencing
Closeboard fencing, is our most popular service.
We construct it with featherdge boards and erect it using an arris rail framework (although we do use square rails or “motorway rails”).
Closeboard is very flexible in it's style, it's appearance can be changed to best suit the situation, the height and length can be adjusted to the surroundings.
The posts are morticed and the rails are then shaped on site to fit snugly into them - we do not use brackets to fix the rails (this is a common DIY practice that leads to fences failing after a short duration).
Palisade/Picket Fencing
Palisade fences, also known as Picket fences, are used when an unobtrusive fencing solution is required. The standard height of Palisade fences are 900mm, 1050mm and 1200mm, although we have supplied & installed 1500mm before. There are 3 types of palisade tops available; pointed top, round top and square top. Palisade fencing, once erected, can be painted or stained any colour to suit your requirements.
Panel Fencing
Lap panels are made in a variety of “qualities”. We generally use a medium weight panel that is "fully framed", meaning they have timber batten around the outside edge. Panels are available in; 3ft (915mm), 4ft (1220mm), 5ft (1525mm) and 6ft (1830mm).
Post and Rail Fencing
Although more commonly seen in the agricultural sector, Post and Rail is becoming increasingly popular within the domestic setting.
Post and rail is a generic term used to describe any fencing system comprising of solid timber rails. There are a number of common variants such as; sawn, cleft and half-round. Most of the material that we use in this style of fence is cut down and prepared by us.
Chainlink Fencing
When used in the domestic situation, common heights are 900mm, 1200mm and 1800mm. Chainlink is made in a number of different wire gauges, the thicker the wire the more expensive it is, but it is more durable and longer lasting. As with the height, the gauge size will depend on the surrounding area, maybe you just want a border fence, so the thinner gauge may suffice, but for pet control or security, the thicker mesh is recommended.
Chestnut Paling
Chestnut paling is a quick “Low cost option” A major use is for tree protection though we have installed it for dog fencing. It is a natural looking and fairly unobtrusive fence which looks good in rural areas It can also be used successfully in areas of trees and shrubbery where it is difficult to get a perfectly straight line to set the fence to.
